Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters is the second installment in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. This book continues the story of demigod Percy Jackson following the events of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. After the protective barriers around Camp Half-Blood are compromised, Percy, Grover, and Annabeth embark on a quest to find the Golden Fleece: an item of great power and believed to be the only thing capable of repairing the barrier. In my opinion, this was a very good book. Much like the first book, it has a strong plot, and introduces more to the series, allowing it to develop and make it more interesting for the reader. It shows how the friendship between these three characters is strengthened, and how new characters are introduced. I would recommend this book to people between the ages of 12 and 15, but you should read the first book before this one. In my opinion, the book is much better than in than the movie as many parts of the plot was changed and it didn’t contain all the details that the author put in the book that allowed readers to understand each scene clearly. Even though this book isn’t as great the others in the series, I still enjoyed it as there was a lot of action throughout the plot of the book. I would recommend this book to kids aged 9-13 as the book is not difficult and challenging to read. @bookreviewer888 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters was a great sequel in my opinion and I would recommend reading it. Rick Riordan (The Author) has developed the characters in a very relatable way by portraying a combination of a heroic but also a realistic personality for a 13-year-old. He also adds some new characters that really have a huge impact on the story and on Percy Jackson. In conclusion if you are in to action and adventure books and have read The Lightning Thief, I would say that Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters does not disappoint. 5/5 stars - @TheMayor of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
