“The Night Searchers” by Marcia Muller is an okay-ish detective novel. While the novel attempts to raise the stakes and tensions as the story progresses, it just doesn’t feel like the danger rises all that much. Sure at one point she is betrayed and has to go into hiding, but she easily figures out ways to continue her tasks while remaining hidden without difficulty. The plot of the novel is not all that interesting either. Yes, it does involve a secret group that is connected to the mystery that the main character (Sharon) is trying to solve, but their activities don’t grab my interest that much and the story ends pretty weak. It does involve action and a somewhat tense standoff, but its not very creative. So while the book is not so dull that I will fall asleep or lose all of my interest, I’m not exactly too eager to re-read it. 3.5/5 Stars - @Odyssey of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
