This is an interesting book told from the perspective of Emmy, the mother of an abducted baby, and Sophie, the baby now fourteen years old. The story alternates between the two women who have similar voices but still are recognizable as different people. The writing is quite lyrical and poetic at times, laced through with longing - for the lost baby on Emmy's part and for freedom on Sophie's. Nicely constructed so that the narrative flows well - at least for me. Goodreads reviewers mostly liked this but some were confused and found the style jarring.
