Aaron isn’t like the other kids in his Grade 6 class. He laughs like a hyena, can’t sit still and is very clumsy. He has managed to have a few friends but has come to the attention of the class bully. Aaron is anxiously awaiting the return of his father who left eight years earlier after the death of Aaron’s mother. He is making lists of things he will do with his father when he arrives but worries that his father will think he is weird and leave again. The narrative moves quickly from scene to scene much like Aaron’s attention span and the details of school life and family are realistic and familiar. Not all of his teachers are patient with Aaron and you can feel the frustration of his friends with his behavior. This novel is a stand-alone sequel to The Mealworm Diaries and a Silverbirch 2012 nominee. Reviewed by KH
