GREAT 1956 Rogers & Hammerstein musical/comedy production set in seaside Maine. Interesting cast of characters and I particularly enjoyed (again) Gordon MacRae. I did just learn that originally Frank Sinatra was chosen for the role and even began filming, but they were filming both in Technicolor and advanced version Technicolor55. Apparently some scenes were actually filmed twice and Sinatra refused to be paid once for appearing in two films (according to Wikipedia). There are several lengthy terrific choreographed dances lasting several minutes. The sailors and production in 'June Is Bustin' Out' were very good. And the near film end dance on beach featuring Billy's daughter Louise (played by Susan Luckey) and three boys was another very good one. I've been watching all the films in the Rogers & Hammerstein Collection available from KCLS that I was too young to be interested in when they originally came out at theaters - thanks KCLS!
