Some Like It Hot has an offbeat script that somehow works through the movie. How this is done is hard to know given the odd subplots. Two down and out musicians witness the St. Valentine's Day Massacre and are on the run from the Mob. In order to get out town quickly Jerry (Geraldine) and Joe (Josephine) cross-dress into an all female band headed to Miami that features Marilyn Monroe as the lead singer. Curtis falls for Monroe and tries to woo her posing as a rich playboy while Lemmon does have an aging playboy that pursues him in his female personality. Then the mob shows up at the resort where they are playing. Despite being filmed in black and white (1959 release date) this film does deserve the title "Classic" because after seeing it multiple times there is still a sense of wonder that the actors and director keep a narrative light and funny that in other hands could have been disasterous.
