Nice ride between facts and fiction. Twining gives us an up and personal view inside the Art world. A world where beauty, money, treachery, and deceit are all very much intertwined. As much as I loathe Napoleon, I think, if it's true, that he had the right attitude by keeping the painting over his bed. A little possessive perhaps, but I can understand the man wanting the keep such a work of beauty to himself. Then, again you have to wonder if all the traffic herded before that picture at the Louvre (and I'm one of them) is for the "real thing" or for one of many forgeries. Does it matter, really?...
