Reasons why I didn't like this: Attempted to maintain the persona of 19th Century England with American costumes... totally not regency England. Just many historical inconsistencies. No way was Mr Darcy so cold and scathing then perfectly eager to meet Lizzy all within the same heartbeat. The actresses used for the Bennet sisters were disappointing because their actresses were too old. Excess of unnecessary dialogue really took away from the film. I know they were trying to set it up for all audiences, but I really felt that it was a disappointment when Mr Bennett was attempting to be sarcastic. Darcy's dialogue also left much to be desired... I felt bad that Olivier had to play such a flippant Mr Darcy. The woman who played Lizzie was too harsh and (in my opinion) didn't have the good-nature'd attitude that Lizzy should have had. I did like how some of the dialogue established the basis of Lizzie's Prejudice but did nothing for Darcy's pride. Needless to say I didn't finish this as I pride myself on historical correctness.
