I read it because it is a Rizzolli and Isles story, like the TV show. Here, however, the characters are more closely drawn and all is not the bubbly gal pals we see on the tube. Some issues remain, Jane's parents are divorcing, but Jane and Maura's basic relationship is arm's length. the story is good, flashing povs and time, and it deals with a satanic serial killer. I will read more of these.
