David Pace is a man who has it all: a successful career as an almost-famous academic, a wife blessed with both beauty and brains, a young son and a lovely home. But David's brain has begun to misfire and his sense of what is real, who he is, and what he is capable of slips terrifyingly out of reach.

Watching the protagonist in Ricci's latest novel fall apart is like watching a trainwreck. David Pace is definitely not likeable but he is fascinating and Ricci's writing is ever so readable. My only criticism is that the last part of the book which takes place in a war torn country seemed like a separate story. Well worth a read.
