Mina brings empathy to this mystery. The reader feels sorry for the murderer, realizing that his past continued to impact him. As always the Alex Morrow novel is complex. This one brought closure to Alex and her brother in prison.

Not a long book (300pages), so a short read for me. Reading her words is like seeing a movie of the novel unfold. The story features DI Alexandra Morrow. The author tells the story from several points of view - the police, the victims, the blokes who commit the crime. Action takes place in the Glasglow area. Two murdered women and a fire with 2 burnt bodies - who is "really" responsible? Will the villagers inform the police? Good plotting and writing.

One of my favourite authors but I wasn't fond of her last book (Red Road).
She's back in fine form with this outing. Alex Morrow has a complex case on her hands which she has to juggle with police politics between her office & the Met. Her half-brother (& gangster) Danny continues to dog her but there's a surprising resolution here.
Great, fast paced read with finely drawn characters.
