Friendship to the max! Jo, April, Mal, Molly and Ripley are five best pals determined to have an awesome summer together...and they're not gonna let any insane quest or an array of supernatural critters get in their way! Not only is it the second title launching in our new BOOM! Box imprint but LUMBERJANES is one of those punk rock, love-everything-about-it stories that appeals to fans of basically all excellent things. It's Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Gravity Falls and features five butt-kicking, rad teenage girls wailing on monsters and solving a mystery with the whole world at stake. And with the talent of acclaimed cartoonist Noelle Stevenson, talented newcomer Grace Ellis writing, and Brooke Allen on art, this is going to be a spectacular series that you won't want to miss. Collects Lumberjanes #1-#4.

Lumberjanes follows a group of girl campers (kind of like Girl Scouts) on a series of unusual adventures. I think quirky might be a good word to describe both the girls and their adventures, although there is also a supernatural element to the adventures. The girls are just girls.

This was not what I expected. I'm not sure what I expected, but this wasn't it. I am pretty sure I liked it. I am not used to comic books, so I was filled with great anger at the abrupt ending, especially since there are several pages of extra artwork at the end that led me to believe that there would still be more story.

We absolutely adore the Lumberjanes! My boys think they are great, and can't wait to read more!

What the junk! This comic is always a pleasure to read. Good mix of cutesy and action.

This series highlights five girls experience at camp together. These graphic novels are some of my favorite. They run into mysterious supernatural stuff, bossy cabin leaders, and boy-scout rivals, etc. I highly recommend this series to middle grade readers.

Five friends are determined to have the best summer ever, even though weird supernatural stuff keeps happening at their camp. Good for anybody who has had (or ever wanted) that perfect group of friends.

Not much seems to phase these five girls. From 3-eyed-foxes to werebears to just about anything this camp can throw at them, they work together to face any challenge, as a Lumberjane should. Smart, funny and action packed with true heroines for all ages.

More middle grade than YA - a bit too silly for me to absolutely love it. But by the end of the book, I was into it. Maybe this series is best done by bingeing it in a row? Hmmm...

Very cute! It was a quick read, and I really liked the characters. Not a bad start to a series!

The story is very enjoyable and fun. Teens and YA readers can go through and relate to the characters in some shape or form. Scenes and plot are cooky fun, showing a lot of strange randomness that is comedic and relatable. I was immediately drawn (hehe get it) in by the art style. Any girls from the ages of 12+ should read this.

This zany collection is definitely cute and a fun adventure series for young-ins but personally I found all but one of the characters to be interchangeable. Nobody has any personalities yet. By the 4th issue with the evil boy scouts the writing and drawings seemed to be less random and jumbled and the whole story seemed more coherent. If Vol 2 continues along that vein I'll read it.
