It is 1897 and single mother, Fiona MacGillivray and her eleven-year-old son, Angus, have moved to Dawson City to open a theatre during the Gold rush. However, an encounter with a local gangster's henchman, Paul Sheridan, causes problems when he sets his mind to find the fabled 'Gold Mountain' and to make Fiona his wife. Fiona must rely on the help of Corporal Sterling of the North-West Mounted police, as well as the local townsfolk to escape from Sheridan's machinations.

This is the first Vicki Delany novel I've read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Fast moving and interesting setting which gives us insight into the Klondike gold rush days. Even the unexpected ending was good. I will definitely be picking up a few more of her novels.
