Hooked starts with Thea meeting Will during a high school fire drill. Thea becomes pregnant, and Will turns out to be a terrible partner. However, Thea still considers herself “hooked,” and desperately wants to make things with Will work. There’s a lot of things going on in this novel that really could have been explored more, like Thea’s relationship to her parents, the financial strain of being a teenage mother, or if Thea was jealous of her friends going off to college. There are a lot of unrealistic things in this novel (would people really pay hundreds of dollars for a crocheted bikini?), but Thea’s determination to be a good mother makes her a character worth rooting for.

This book was very good! I became "hooked" while reading it because there was always something at the end of each chapter that made me want to read on.
