Slow moving at times, but a good book about the dire situation in Ireland and the conditions of emigrants in the U.S.(early 1800's). Interesting how the repression of Ireland by English is compared to the slavery in America. Well developed cast of characters. This is a series, which I found out after starting this second book. No problems starting in the middle. Will probably go back and read the other two, because this subject is one of my favorites, UK historical fiction. Love it!
