Grainy CCTV footage shows a man walking into a bank and putting a gun to a cashier's head. He tells her to count to twenty-five. When he doesn't get his money in time, she is executed. Detective Harry Hole is assigned to the case. While Harry's girlfriend is away in Russia, an old flame gets in touch. He goes to dinner at her house and wakes up at home with no memory of the past twelve hours. The same morning the girl is found shot dead in her bed. Harry begins to receive threatening e-mails. Is someone trying to frame him for this unexplained death? Meanwhile the bank robberies continue with unparalleled savagery. Gripping and surprising, Nemesis is the new thriller by one of the biggest stars of Scandinavian crime fiction.

This is book 4 in the Harry Hole Series.

Book introduces the character, Beate Lønn.

In this book there is too much going on! In my opinion, unnecessary complication of the plot with introducing many new characters, whose roll is really insignificant, and also so many unnecessary twists. But in general - interesting, Page turner, especially in the first half of narrative.

This story is too detailed and very convoluted. It is supposedly about revenge but this concept is used only as a plot device with no insight into the idea of revenge itself.

Very entertaining cop mystery. Felt fairly typical for the genre, but it definitely kept me reading and I'd like to read the next one.

Best Nesbo so far. Kept me guessing right to the end.

This book #4 in the Detective Harry Hole series set in Oslo but it is important to read The Redbreast (#3 in the series) BEFORE you read this one because of logical linkages among the books; this one’s a wonderfully-interwoven story involving a couple of murder investigations; only small problem is that things in the final 30 pages seemed to me to get a bit muddled but maybe it was clearly written and I just did not understand or was tired but couldn’t stop reading.

A great read. Not as strong as The Snowman, but a building point that leads up to the growth this writer went through.
