A couple scenes in this book REALLY bothered me. There is a concrete mixer named Milton who is completely minding his business, when the Jack Truck and Dump Truck Dan come and just smash and crash him so that concrete is pouring all over his head and he is miserable.

Instead of helping out, Jack Truck and Dump Truck Dan just run away to do something sort of similar to another truck.

I like the artwork and my kids had fun learning the names of the characters, but I just could not stand behind the anti-social behavior shown in this book and I have to strongly advise against it.

Jon Scieszka appears to ahve one mission in life, and that is to write books that boys will read. This book is part of his Trucktown series, aimed at the pre-school set and early primary set. And let me tell you, he has succeeded. My son is addicted to this picture book with its message of smashing and crashing of two young male trucks. We read it almost every day and he can name off every character.
