For those who don't understand the connection between trauma and public school achievement, this could be a real epiphany.

This is is awful !
I got this NYPL disc home and put this movie in the DVD player...and my television screen says: "NOT FORMATTED FOR THIS REGION" !!??
( Even though it states "Region #1", ie. 'North America', on the DVD jacket !!?)
I have watched a thousand other New York Public Library DVDs on my Panasonic Region 1 DVD Player,.. but this one makes it over 44 TIMES !! that a film has have come up as "NOT FORMATTED..." etc. !
I waited a VERY long time to get this highly recommended film.
Having this happen is so VERY DISAPPOINTING !! I really wanted to see this movie. And I know that ALL the NYPL copies of it will have this same problem !!
WHY is the New York Public Library buying DVD's that are "NOT FORMATTED.." to be viewed in this region ?
Has this ever happened to anyone else out there ??

Nice, kind of "Stand & Deliver" type of movie. Extremely well acted by the kids in the class, but only an adequate effort from Hillary Swank, Patrick Dempsey & Scott Glenn. Touching, true story.

I can't believe that I am praising a Hollywood movie. I have seen so many DUDS, that this gem took me by surprise.
So good I could not stop watching; luckily I had tissues (a whole toilet roll) to mop my tears.

this was a great movie and how a teacher reaches out t0 her students to make them better than they ever believed they could ever be. The journals they create says a lot of their lives and I admire that. I bought the dvd and watch it for inspiration .
I like to write too;

This is such a great film. It is just so inspiring and incredible to see the transformation of her classroom & students. Based on a true story, it teaches everyone it doesn't matter your background or where you come from, everyone can achieve success.
