This is truely a beautiful film. Conversations are allowed to be complete paragraphs. Scenes allow the viewer time to enjoy details.

I can understand how such talent would be boring to a brain looking for a Hollywood film flickering at Twitter/Facebook levels.

Great story, amazing cast, leaves you with something to think about and inspired me to delve into my own attitude toward life and aging to the point of writing about it:

The acting is superb and the costumes/settings are beautiful; however, I found this a very slow-moving film. It had the air of a play rather than a movie. Although the plot may have been unique at the time it was written, the idea of a woman giving up all her aspirations to fulfill the duties of a conventional wife has now been done many times. It's worth seeing this film once because of the acting, but it's not something I would watch a second time.

Boring, extremely slow movie. After a few minutes we were done with it.

Dame Wendy Hiller is a classic in her own right. Her portrayal is elegant ,serene and wise. As always Masterpiece Theatre provides the best of the best in films.

Beautifully poignant. A gem of a movie.
