Filled with deliberately outrageous stereotypes, tongue-in-cheek good humour, and a ribald sense of the absurd, this quintessentially Canadian film is a whole lotta fun. The French pathologist, the explanation for how to swear in French, and Ward's sister's night of passion with Bouchard were unforgettably hilarious. Did I mention that the theme is "hockey"?

This movie plays off on the intense relationship - and rivalry - between the provincial police forces of Ontario and Quebec, the OPP and the SQ; with two cops who are perfectly bilingual but have a hard time getting along (until it gets personal for both of them). Add in a serial killer targeting the hockey community, a devoted mother, a sister of one of the cops who is a sexy bombshell (and a foil for the other cop), and a young girl who becomes an innocent victim when she is kidnapped, and you have something that combines "Lethal Weapon" with the "two solitudes". Funny from start to finish, but sobering as well.

Great low-brow film & sly in-jokes.
Loved the bonus feature on taboo alternate ending.
Surprised Gary Bettman did not sue for libel & slander.

My only problem with this movie is that I did not want it to end. It's hilarious.

What I liked most about the movie was the commentary of franco-anglo relationships and suspicions, and the caricatures of our characters. I had trouble remembering the nude scene (must be getting old), but now that it's come to mind, I think it had some plot value. It's fun, and it's Canadian, and it feels so rare to have such an even language split ( and it comes in three versions -- one for francophones, one for anglophones, and one for the bilingual).

Canadian version of Rush Hour, Bad Boys, Lethal Weapon. Enjoyable, unfortunately the disk is damaged in the middle, but got through the movie regardless. I have to agree with MickiMouse's comment that the sexual scene was totally unnecessary.

Coarse Language: Not only does it feature copious amounts of frenchh-cursing, this film also teraches us how to use them properly in a sentence and conjugate it like a verbe.
