This was the beginning of a long series about the Whiteoak family who leave their native England to create a life in Canada. The story centers around the building of their home and family. There are small conflicts along the way for the characters to deal with but mostly it is just a simple story of how this young couple start their lives. A nice read.

Great family saga series. Characters well drawn and engrossing.

Southern Ontario's very own soap opera/epic saga - and for that's reason enough to read - delightful within it's genre.
