In an unnamed town in England, Jugnu and Chanda have disappeared. Rumours abound in the close-knit Pakistani community. And then on a snow-covered January morning Chanda's brothers are arrested for their murder. The story of the next twelve months describes the unraveling of all that is sacred to a family at the crossroads of culture, community, nationality and religion, and is told in a language that is rich in detail, languid in cadence and arrestingly poetic.
Beautifully, lyrically written story of a Pakistani family in London...heartbreaking but lovely at the same time. Jumps a bit in time and the names were a bit tough at first, but power through if you are confused at first...I found it well worth it.
