I like Kanon a lot, but found this book tedious, slow moving and frustrating. The main character is both implausible and annoying, the scenarios are artificial and contrived... All in all, didn't like this one much. I know others have a different opinion, but I forced myself to finish this book, and then was mad at myself for having wasted the time.

Not at all what I anticipated. Many twists and turns. Very interesting characters with interesting back stories. Lots going on and some suspense. New author to me, so I am ready to explore other work by him. Very happy I listened to the reviews!

This was my second book by Joseph Kanon - I really enjoy his books. A very good read.

Kanon's books are always excellent and this is no exception. Takes place right after WWII (as do most of his) -- this time in Vienna. It's hard to sympathize with the main protagonist though -- I kept wanting him to make better choices.
