Another gripper from Grisham. High powered lobbyist Joel Backman is serving a 20 year sentence for numerous offences, the most important of which is shopping secrets which could jeopardize the security of the United States. A terrible President in his last days in the White House unexpectedly pardons him. The question is why. The CIA proceeds to hide him in Italy to see which foreign government wants to limit their losses and kill him. Will it be China? The Russians? Others? A great adventure. Even if you don't like the book, you will improve your Italian!
Enjoyed this fast moving story. Would like to see a sequel to find out where the main character ended up.
I found this book slow moving and had trouble finishing it. It reads more like a travel book on Italy and Bologna. The ending was rather weak too.
Not one of his best. A bit slow at times but still entertaining and an enjoyable read
The download version is incomplete, it ends before the final chapter.
A real page turner with good characters and a continuing suspenseful plot. Excellent , as usual.
I was enjoying every aspect of this book, but did it end in chapter 9? I can't find anything that tells me how many chapters are in this book.
I love a good John Grisham book as much as anyone, but half of this book is about a guy learning Italian, and the other half isn't much better.
Loved It!
