Beth Good Latzer here traces 130 years of life, death, love, and war of a prominent Canadian family and tells the true and exciting story of their success in coping with the forces of history. Myrtleville is the Goods' family farm near Brantford, Ontario, which Allen Good at age 38 established in 1837. The story of the Goods ends in 1967 with the death at age 91 of Allen Good's grandson, W. C. Good, a founder of the United Farmers of Ontario and a member of the Dominion Parliament. This is also a story of a society in which far more people lived on farms and in villages than in cities. In a sense, this book is not only a biography of people and the world they knew; it is also the biography of a farm, from birth to death.
