Strictly naval battle: shot? Hit? Unlike "Hunt for Red October" which has a plot.

For me, "The Hunt for Red October" is still the greatest sub movie. This is alright. Also, "Crimson Tide" and "Run Silent, Run Deep."

I was gripping my seat the entire time! This was an amazing tribute to the men who fought and died so bravely to preserve our freedom. I highly recommend this movie.

There are much better WW II submarine movies. Two would be, Th Enemy Below and Run Silent, Run Deep. And those are vintage movies! This is as fairly contemporary movie, but doesn't hold a candle to the two others. Here's why. If you're…

⚓️ While it's true that the US Navy did not capture the U-571, it did capture the U-505, and if you don't believe it, you can go to Chicago and tour the ship, at the Museum of Science and Industry. Or you can when things loosen up. One…

A "U.S. takes credit for what someone else did" movie. The film itself is not so good; what can you expect from a cast that includes Jon Bon Jovi and Matthew McConaughey as hard-bitten naval officers? This film's presumption gets me…

I checked this out to see Harvey Keitel. Had no idea Matthew McConaughey was in it. Don't know for sure what happened to US submarine that had to be abandoned and then board the Nazi sub.

Spoiler alert. OK movie but my favorite part is when Bon Jovi gets wiped out by a hatch cover.

I enjoyed U-571. For a 17 year old film it looks current -- and the viewer gets to see certain actors early in their careers along with Bill Paxton (RIP) and the one actor in the film who had been military Harvey Keitel (USMC). The pace…

This is a 2000 French-American WWII-wartime drama directed by Jonathan Mostow. A German submarine is boarded in 1942 by disguised United States Navy submariners seeking to capture her Enigma cipher machine. Although the film appears like…

Enigma, why risk mens lives for such a machine? We didn't have any math scientist who could understand how to decipher it. Alan from London did go to the United States about that time but he already broke the code. We didn't need the…

Fact of the matter is that it was the British that recovered the Enigma Machine... not the American re-write of history that Hollywood puts out.

Rated 8/10. Good show. Lots of tension. Authentic.

Great authentic historially accurate production values,.. but one of the enlisted sailor's cowardly and defiant back-talk felt unrealistic, and dramaticly contrived.

Excellent movie, one of the better WWII submarine stores out there today. Definitely ranks up there with the classics such as "Run Silent, Run Deep"
